Mohan Aiyaswami

Expert Advisor

Career

Mohan is a senior technology, digital and cybersecurity executive, Chair and Advisory Board Member with more than two decades of executive and board-level experience across government, financial services, telecommunications, retail, manufacturing, logistics, sports and entertainment.

His executive career spans CIO, CTO, CISO and General Manager roles with organisations including Australian Defence, Tennis Australia, Tabcorp, Toll, Optus and Coles Myer. He has led large-scale technology organisations, transformation programs and technology investment portfolios, managing budgets ranging from $300 million to $1.3 billion and delivering significant cost savings.

Mohan has led major digital and technology transformations across complex organisations, including the accelerated digital transformation of Tennis Australia, the transformation of Tabcorp's enterprise technology platforms, technology strategy and enterprise systems for Defence, and the development of a technology strategy for Toll to support the integration of multiple businesses.

Role at Factor

As an Expert Advisor at Factor, Mohan brings extensive experience advising boards and executive teams on the strategic decisions that determine how technology contributes to business growth and performance.

He advises leaders on technology strategy, investment and portfolio prioritisation, operating models, cost optimisation and the delivery of large-scale digital and technology transformation.

His experience leading technology organisations of significant scale also enables him to provide practical guidance on organisational design, workforce leadership, operational resilience and aligning technology capabilities with broader business strategy.

Mohan brings a valuable dual perspective from both the enterprise and technology vendor sides. His experience developing and commercialising technology products, leading global consulting and pre-sales engagements, and advising major technology companies enables him to provide an independent perspective on vendor strategy, technology propositions and commercial decisions.

Key roles: CIOs, CTOs, CDOs, CISOs, COOs, CEOs, Board & Non-Executive Directors, Technology & Transformation Leaders, Finance & Business Leaders, and Technology Vendors & Service Providers.

Previous Roles

Mohan has held senior technology leadership positions across some of Australia's most prominent organisations, including CIO of Tennis Australia, General Manager Technology & Deputy CIO at Tabcorp, and senior technology leadership roles spanning Defence, Toll, Optus and Coles Myer.

At Tennis Australia, he was appointed by the Chair and CEO to lead an accelerated digital transformation, introducing seven new technology and digital platforms and consolidating 18 separate digital experiences into a unified customer experience.

His experience in Defence included responsibility for technology operations at one of Australia's largest IT organisations, alongside the development and implementation of major technology strategies, enterprise information management and ERP capabilities.

Media Presence and Industry Contributions

Mohan has held a number of board, advisory and governance positions across the technology community. He has served as Chair of the Defence Industry Interest Group, an Advisory Board Member of DXC Technology and a governing body member of the Gartner CIO community.

He is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and completed the Advanced Leadership & Management Program at the University of Oxford.

Mohan is also Founder and Director of a not-for-profit organisation that has raised more than $300,000 for charitable causes.

Leadership Philosophy

Mohan believes technology leadership is fundamentally about connecting strategy, investment and execution to measurable business outcomes.

His approach focuses on ensuring organisations have the governance, technology capabilities, operating models and investment discipline required to scale innovation and deliver sustainable transformation.

He brings a pragmatic board-level perspective on balancing technology ambition with commercial realities, risk, organisational change and execution — while ensuring technology remains aligned to the broader objectives of the business.
